Here's a strange one on ebay.
 

This screams "scam" to me: A "rare" gold coin that looks a lot like a run-of-the-mill 1924 Peace Dollar (90% silver, 10% copper), and private feedback.

The questionable item.

In other news, I've noticed that PCGS's price guide has double eagles priced a little over $200 more than spot.

For example, some St. Gaudens Double Eagles ($20) from the late 1910s and early 1920s have a price of $875 for MS60 grade. That's almost a troy ounce of silver.

I wonder if he even had the coin in the first place. The pictures of the face and the obverse look like they were taken at different times and with different cameras (or at least camera settings).

Last week I went to a coin dealer and asked if he had any non-numismatic silver and he offered me sterling bars at spot. When I told him I was only interested in pure silver, he said, "this is pure sterling silver".
